Glass story

The history of glass is much older than the history of humanity, and yet it was the man who started using this wonderful present from nature, and made it an everyday tool.

The History of glass began with the use of the glass-mineral (obsidian). The volcanic origin obsidian is a black colored mineral with conchoidal fracture, that were used by the prehistoric man as blades or arrow-heads.

Glass-making is the achievement of humans living in society.
The glass-art of the ancient eastern civilizations was brought to medieval Europe through the Greeks and the Romans, then through the routes of  "world trade" it was carried all around the world. As glass making was considered a trade of high values, and only a few craftsmen knew the technology, we can bravely claim that glass and its making is one of the measures of culture.

The first material finding relating to glass-making originates from Egypt, from the 5th millenium B.C.. The composition of the black glass bead found by archeologists is equivalent to the composition of today's glass, but this ancient relic is non-transparent. The modern glass-making technology of the modern man had been developed through thousands of years. Today this technology is suitable for satisfying the needs of masses, glass is being made in a wide range of forms and colors styles etc. and in high quality.
